1 Year And Never Forgotten: Neville Lake Family | Entertain Kids on a Dime
1 YEAR AND NEVER FORGOTTEN: NEVILLE-LAKE FAMILY
Today marks the 1 year anniversary since the Neville-Lake Tragedy!
Sadly on September 28th, the world lost Daniel, Harry, and Milly Neville-Lake (and their Grandfather Gary) due to the careless act of a drunk driver.
This thoughtless action, caused Jennifer & Ed Neville-Lake to lose the people they most loved in their lives.
For those of you who do not know, the Children’s mother Jennifer Neville-Lake was a part of the Entertain Kids On A Dime Community. I immediately felt the need to help her in any way I could.
During this time, I was able to get to know Jennifer and meet some of her family members. Jennifer is a genuine, caring and kind person, and my heart aches seeing her in so much pain. She is extremely fortunate to have an amazing group of friends, a kind Mother, and supportive siblings by her side.
I am beyond impressed how the Entertain Kids On A Dime Community has banded together and helped support this family.
BELOW ARE SOME INITIATIVES THAT WE HAVE DONE THIS YEAR TO HELP!
1) RAISING MONEY FOR FOOD
The very first initiative we did, was raise $1000 for Jennifer and Ed. The money was raised on TILT and I purchased Walmart Gift Cards and mailed it to Jennifer and Ed.

2) THE CHRISTMAS GIFT INITIATIVE

We raised money through the Entertain Kids On A Dime Community and got incredible donors to help us
• FOR JEN’S GRANDMOTHER JOSEFINA:
* Kleinburg Nursery had donated beautiful plants to her.
• FOR HER MOTHER NERIZA:
* $100 gift card to Chapters/Indigo
* The Aveda Wild Strawberry Salon has donated a manicure, pedicure, wash cut & blow dry, and a facial for Jen and her Mother.
•FOR JEN & ED
* Blue Mountain Resort has donated a one-night, mid-week stay in a Village Suite
* The Scandinave Spa Blue Mountain has donated free entry into the hot and cold baths
* The group purchased had purchased $600 in restaurant gift cards so they don’t have to worry about cooking
* 2 NIGHTS AT Langdon Hall Country House Hotel & Spa: We had purchased a night at Langdon Hall Adults Only Hotel in Guelph.
Jen and Ed will have all of their meals covered and you will each get $300 worth of spa treatments for their stay.
Langdon Hall has donated their second night inclusive of all of their meals.
They are probably not in the mind set to do this year, but we hope one day they will!
•TRIBUTE TO THE KIDS AND DAD
* We purchased a bench that has been installed at Kettle Lake Park in King City. The bench has a plaque that reads “In memory of Gary Neville & Daniel, Harry and Milly Neville-Lake”
* Greenside Gardens N More donated 4 trees to be planted next to the bench. The Township of King will donated the labour and we have purchased a plaque for each tree with the name of her Children and her Father.

3) CAR MAGNET PROJECT
Early this year, I teamed up with a Company called MAGNETREE BOOKS to create car magnets with pictures of the Neville-Lake Children. On the magnet, the words read “NOT ONE MORE” and “DON’T DRINK AND DRIVE.”
The magnets were put on the back of cars to remember the Children and remind people not to drink and drive. The proceeds from the magnets, went to MADD Canada.

4) NEVILLE-LAKE MEMORIAL
We held a Memorial Event on August 14th at Wellesley Park in King City, to honor the Neville-Lake family. Hundreds of people came out to support the Neville-Lake family. Since our group was so big, we couldn’t have the Memorial Celebration in Kettle-Lake Park where the bench, plaques, and trees were planted, so we moved to a bigger location within a 5 minute drive.
The event was beautiful. We had a dove release ceremony, where Children of all ages let 4 doves into the sky, as we listened to the song “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” (the Kid’s favourite song). The children blew bubbles into the sky during the dove release.
We had lots of eventful entertainment for the kids. We had a colour theme at the event symbolizing the birth dates of the Kids and their Grandfather (Light Blue, Green, Purple, and Red). We sprayed the attendee’s hair in those colours, gave out necklaces, sunglasses, and bubbles as well.
I would love to do this again next year. I hope more of you can come out and support the family!

WHERE WE GO FROM HERE?
1) WE SUPPORT It is important we continue to support Jennifer and Ed Neville-Lake. They wake up in pain daily, and we need to show them we care!
A wonderful Charity is being formed called: “MANY HANDS DOING GOOD” by the friends of Jennifer and Ed. This is to honour the Neville-Lake Children and offer programs like art therapy to kids who need it.
I volunteered to be on the Committee and I will inform the group when there is something happening where you can help support the cause.
